The Client.
BARRINGTON 220 EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
Founded in 1999, The Foundation is a non-for-profit that raises money and then sponsors major projects and grants that support the Barrington 220 School District which is comprised of seven elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
The Project.
RE-DESIGN WEBSITE & RAISE AWARENESS OF FOUNDATION IN THE COMMUNITY.
The Foundation is made up of a volunteer board. The Foundation has donated over $3.5 million to the school district but their community is not aware of who they are and what they do. The awareness will help increase donations.
The website has been identified as a great channel to share information with the community. The current website has a 86% bounce rate - people visit the site for specific needs and leave the site. The Foundation serves a segmented audience, each group has specific interests.
Every year, the Foundation funds several grants for educators and there is no communication about the projects. They website needs to better share the stories of their projects and grants awarded.
There are many charitable organizations in the 220 community and the site needs to encourage donors to make a contribution to support the students of their school district. Partnering community work can be shared as well.
The Strategy.
In the strategic planning session, two main tactics were identified to help solve the awareness issue.
1) Better job with Story Telling.
2) Update our Major Project Process & be transparent about our process.
The new website’s goal is to help solve these issues.
