Adlai E. Stevenson High School
Stevenson High School is a nationally recognized high school of 5,000+ students.
I was hired to create + implement a new brand for the school.
Challenge
They had a mascot that was “borrowed” from the New England Patriots. There were many people on the committee and lots of opinions. We knew everyone needed to buy-in to the design inorder for peope to embrace and comply with the new brand. After much debate, refinement and iterations, the final logos were chosen.
Client Team
The team included the Superintendent, Athletic Director, Director of Student Activities, Communication Director and Principal.
My role:
Entire re-brand including the design of school mark, mascot logo, school crest, apparel, collateral, environmental graphics. I produced all final art and share with school. I created a brand guidelines document that defines brand standards and usage, colors, typography, sizing and implementation.
Project Scope
Old Mascot Logos
Adlai E. Stevenson High School Founded in 1965
OLD MASCOT LOGO
Original school mascot. The administration decided that they should not have a gun in the icon used to represent the school.
OLD MASCOT LOGO
The school had permission to use the New England Patriots logo, but the administration was contacted by students and asked about plagiarism. The school had permission but the administration took the opportunity to develop their own new branding.
New Mascot Logo
The Patriot.
When updating the schools mascot, we wanted to ensure that the usage was consistent but at the same time offer several intentional options. The Patriot Logo is always the same but sometimes s/he is wrapped in a flag or wearing a patriotic uniform.
